Food
What gerbils need- Food
Obviously, your gerbils are going to need to eat! So what food should you give them? There are many, many types of food out there for gerbils. Here is a list of the brands that are considered best.
Supreme Gerri Gerbil Food
Brown's Tropical Carnival Hamster and Gerbil Food
8in1 eCOTRITION Organic Blend Hamster and Gerbil Food
LM Farms/Hartz Bonanza Hamster and Gerbil Diet
Oxbow Essentials Healthy Handfuls Hamster and Gerbil Food
All Living Things Hamster and Gerbil Daily Diet
Kaytee Nature's Benefits Hamster and Gerbil Diet
Kaytee Forti-Diet Pro Health Hamster and Gerbil Food
I use Brown's Tropical Carnival. It has great variety, the right percentages, and it is easily found, unlike some of the other brands. Note that if you are breeding gerbils, they will need food with more protein and fat then some of the above contain. (15-16% protein and 6-7% fat)
Also, if you use a food mix, such as Tropical Carnival, I would suggest removing the sunflower and pumpkin seeds and using these as treats. If you use a pellet food, such as Oxbow, you will need to buy treats separately. For information on how much food to give, click here.
If you can find it, it's definitely a good brand and they're already used to it. But you don't have to, of course- changing foods won't hurt them, so long as you don't get a bad brand. So it's up to you. :)
What food do you use Anna? I think it is best the gerbils eat the same food living with me.
ReplyDeleteOh never mind.
ReplyDeleteI just saw what you use.
Do you think I should use the same thing you use. it might be best for the gerbils.
