Gerbil care- baths
Gerbils do not need 'baths' in the technical sense. You should never put your gerbil in water, as it is not necessary and will just stress them out. However, you should give your gerbils sand baths, using chinchilla sand. Many gerbils owners put the sand in a jar, or other form of container, and keep it in the tank so that their gerbils have constant access to it. This is a good idea, if you're able. If that isn't convenient, however, you can instead just provide a sand bath when the gerbils are out of the cage. (like when they're running around in a bathtub, playpen, or bedroom, etc.) And if their fur is still getting oily and needs it more often than that, just sprinkle some on top of them.
