Fighting
Behavior- Fighting
Gerbils are territorial, and if they meet another gerbil on their territory, they will probably fight to the death if not interrupted. Gerbils also occasionally "declan". This is where a pair or group of gerbils that is living together start fighting, and need to be separated. Fighting should be easy to tell from play-fighting. Two gerbils that are fighting will roll in a tight ball, squeaking. They may or may not separate on their own. If they do, one will chase the other, and when they catch him/her, they will ball fight again. If you see your gerbils fighting, separate them immediately!
